Meet Victoria Towery
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate
Supervised by Karen Shafer, LPC-S
Hi there! I'm Victoria Towery, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate specializing in somatic therapy, relationship counseling, and LGBTQ+ mental health. I combine my expertise in nervous system regulation, trauma-informed care, and attachment theory to help clients reconnect with their bodies while building authentic, fulfilling relationships.
My work integrates advanced training from leaders like Dr. Stephen Porges (Polyvagal Theory), Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (trauma-informed approaches), and Jon Kabat-Zinn (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction). I specialize in:
Somatic EMDR & body-centered therapy for anxiety, trauma, and stress
Relationship work including couples counseling, attachment wounds, and love addiction recovery
LGBTQ+ affirming care with focus on queer identity development in Southern contexts
Sex therapy addressing intimacy concerns, sexual trauma, and alternative relationship structures
I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New York University and have provided therapy in diverse settings—from residential treatment to private practice. My journey into this work began both professionally and personally, through my own healing and witnessing the transformative power of body-centered, culturally-informed care.
I'm particularly passionate about supporting clients navigating midlife identity transitions, relationship transformations, and healing from attachment wounds. I'm also an AASECT member and presented at the 2025 NAMI Conference on supporting LGBTQ+ identity development in the Southern United States.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me in the yoga studio, rock climbing, or spending time with my partner, child, and two dogs.
